Article: “Now is Not the Time to Undermine Arts and Culture in Hawaiʻi”
Hawaiʻi Arts Alliance Executive Director Gaye Humphrey wrote an op-ed for Civil Beat, published February 27, 2025. In it, she directly addresses Senate Bill 582 and the proposed revisions to the Works of Art Special Fund.

“Hawaiʻi should not be experimenting with how it funds and protects its unique artistic and cultural heritage — especially at a time when national policies threaten the very existence of such work. Art at the Capitol 2025

The Hawaiʻi State Legislature’s annual Art at the Capitol event is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2025, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Participating offices will be open after hours and there will be live music and performances throughout the evening.
