O‘AHU -- The public is invited to enjoy amazing, original artwork from talented kūpuna within the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation's (DPR) Senior Clubs with the opening of a free art gallery at the Honolulu Hale Courtyard.

The exhibit features 100 original oil paintings from 22 artists between the ages of 64 to 89 years old. Painted at DPR's Makua Ali‘i Senior Center, the artists hail from two art clubs, the Original Oil Panting Pals and New Beginnings Artists.

All are welcome to enjoy this exhibit, available for free public viewing on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until October 17, 2024.

The public is also invited to a "meet & greet" event, where you can talk story with these remarkable artists from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18.

This is the 11th time this group has featured their vibrant artwork within Honolulu Hale.

With 32 senior clubs island-wide, representing about 3,500 kūpuna, DPR's Senior Club members participate in weekly activities that include: business meetings, speakers, community service, excursions, luncheons, and so much more. They elect their own officers and organize all of their planned activities. Club sizes range from 10 to 250 members, with loads of special events celebrated throughout the year such as the Senior Valentine Dance and Craft & Country Fair.
