I. CALL TO ORDER [0:00:00]: Chair Pro-Tem Lee called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Quorum was established with 8 members present. Note: This 11-member Board requires 6 members to establish quorum and to take official Board action. Board members must be in-person or have video access.
Due to technical difficulties, the recording's audio was muted during the Call to Order section and was resolved during roll call for attendance.
Board Members Present: Dyson Chee, Lori Farinas, Kathleen Lee, Jeanne Rice, Lynn Mariano, Kim Coco Iwamoto, Emma Davis, and Caroline Faringer.
Board Members Absent: Rodney Chang and Richard Webb.
Guests: Firefighter Representative (Honolulu Fire Department); Lieutenant Arnold Sagucio (Honolulu Police Department); Kent Yang (DTS); Council Member Calvin Say (Council District 5), Pua Smith-Kauhane (CM Say's Office); State House Speaker Scott Saiki (District 25); Senator Sharon Moriwaki (District 12); Representative Scott Nishimoto (House District 23), Taylor Date (Rep Nishimoto's Office); Representative Adrian Tam (House District 24); Ronald Higa (Liliha Neighborhood Board No. 14 Member); Ian Ross (Candidate for House District 23); Patt McCain (Candidate for House District 23); Kim Coco Iwamoto (Candidate for House District 25); Shotaro Dabbs (Candidate for Senate District 12); Brendan Schultz (Candidate for Council District 5); Ikaika Olds (Candidate for House District 23); Janel Denny, Frank Rogozienski, Brandon C., Teri Pan, Shanon Sison (Residents); Camilia Epa (Neighborhood Commission Office - NCO). There were 51 total attendees. Note: Names are not included if not legible on the guest sheet.
II. PUBLIC SAFETY REPORTS [0:02:30]
Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) [0:02:50]: A representative from the Pawaa Fire Station provided information previously requested and highlighted the following: HFD's role in Hawaiian Electric's Public Safety Power Shutoff Program; fire safety and evacuation planning for high-rise occupancies; monthly incident statistics for June 2024; fire safety tip for the month regarding heat safety.

Honolulu Police Department (HPD) [0:02:36]: Lieutenant Arnold Sagucio provided the report and highlighted the following; the monthly crime statistics for June 2024; substantial decrease in car breakings and motor vehicle thefts in the area last month in the area; Major Paul Okimoto started an initiative of higher concentrated patrols for the area due to community concerns and Lt. Sagucio shared Major Paul Okamoto's appreciation for the community for coming out to his, ‘Meet the Major Coffee Hour' at Ward Villages; safety tip for the month regarding checking the back seats of our vehicles.
