EXHIBITS
Capitol Modern’s main galleries are currently closed during installation of new exhibits. Sculpture Garden and ground-floor POD remain open.

“ʻIMI I KA PONO: Reflections on Land, Culture, and Identity” at Aliʻiōlani Hale

Twenty-one artworks from the Art in Public Places Collection of the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) are on display in a new exhibit at Aliʻiōlani Hale (King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center) through July 26, 2024. Free admission.

VOLUNTEER FOR FESTPAC 2024
We're looking for helping hands to volunteer at Capitol Modern for the 13th annual Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture happening from June 6-16. Affectionately known as "FestPAC", the festival is the world’s largest celebration of indigenous Pacific Islanders.

Volunteering may include assisting guests with wayfinding around the museum grounds, assisting with activities, set-up and breakdown help, working at an information table, etc. A thorough volunteer training will be provided in advance of the event!

Complete the Volunteer Registration Form as a preliminary sign-up, and another form will be shared at a later date to determine your duty preferences and availability to kōkua.

    The free, contemporary public art gallery of Hawai‘i has evolved and rebranded, debuting a new name, creative gathering spaces and calendar of events. Formerly called the Hawai‘i State Art Museum (HISAM), the name Capitol Modern is meant to better reflect its location in Honolulu’s historic Capitol District and the vibrant modern art experience people have come to love.

    Capitol Modern is eager for the public to experience this next chapter in their evolution as the people’s museum, and the opportunity to reach diverse audiences in all Hawai‘i communities.
