Kapi‘olani Boulevard PM Contraflow reinstated to improve travel times

HONOLULU -- Beginning on Monday, April 22, the city's Department of Transportation Services will reinstate PM Contraflow coning, along with several traffic modifications, on Kapi‘olani Boulevard. This will help facilitate eastbound traffic flow along the Kapi‘olani Boulevard transportation corridor.

Based on the findings of the Kapi‘olani Boulevard contraflow pilot project that began in July of last year, the original contraflow will be restored with the following modifications:

• Left turns from the westbound direction on Kapi‘olani Boulevard into Waikīkī at McCully Street will be allowed.
• Left turns from Kalākaua Avenue, mauka-bound, onto Kapi‘olani Boulevard will be allowed.
• Left turns from the westbound direction on Kapi‘olani Boulevard onto Atkinson Drive will again be restricted.
• Eastbound left turns from Kapi‘olani Boulevard at Ke‘eaumoku, Kaheka, and McCully Streets will be allowed.
